Outdoor Activities

Like any beach, Carolina Beach is known for its outdoor activities. From the typical activities like
paddle boarding, surfing, wind surfing, and kayaking, you will have unlimited access to living an
active lifestyle on this beach. In addition to those activities, Carolina Beach is home to a surf
school where you can learn to surf with an Olympic Gold Medalist! You can also rent surrey
bikes and take to the boardwalk, fish off of the fishing pier, or catch a fishing charter or scenic
boat tour. And after all of that activity, cap it off with a relaxing rest on the sandy shores while
enjoying the sound of the waves crashing.

Don’t forget to visit the Carolina Beach Boardwalk for great fun and games or the North
Carolina Aquarium for a look at some of the areas marine creatures. You can also hike and
camp along the river at Carolina Beach State Park. Another unique outdoor activity that is fun
for the whole family is the Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project. There are many loggerhead sea
turtles that make Carolina Beach their nesting sites during the summer months. These turtles
are protected by the Endangered Species Act and the nests are monitored by volunteers during
the summer months. The project offers educational opportunities and Turtle Talks to educate
the public and get a glimpse into the nesting season for sea turtles. If you are lucky you might
even spot a sea turtle coming to shore to lay her eggs!

Carolina Beach has a vast history. You can visit Fort Fisher Island, the site of a major Civil War
battle from 1865. Here you can step back in time to the colonial period and see exhibits and
artifacts from this historic time period. The Federal Point History Center also offers a glimpse of
history that is not to be missed.

favorites such as Fat Pelican to upscale eateries, this beach has it all. Many cafes and
restaurants in Carolina Beach not only offer up eclectic and tasty menus but also offer nightly
