Back Flow Preventors: 4/23/09

According to our Cross Connection Control records, testing for the backflow prevention assembly is due. Backflow prevention testing is part of an overall Cross Connection Control program implemented by Porters Neck Company Water Department (PNCWD) and governed by Federal Law (Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 with amendments), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Water Quality of the NC Department of Economic and Natural Resources (NCDENR). Cross Connection Control and backflow preventer installation and testing is part of a comprehensive plan to insure an adequate and safe public potable water supply.

Backflow preventer testing must be done by an individual or company certified to inspect and repair backflow preventers. We have enclosed a list of individuals and companies that test and repair backflow preventers in our area. PNCWD does not endorse or recommend any company for this testing. Testing needs to be scheduled and a completed test report submitted to PNCWD by May 31, 2009. Any testable backflow device needs to be tested annually.
